Earth Photo

Earth Photo is a leading international, annual photography and moving image platform and competition for image-makers exploring the natural world, its peoples and environments, and the urgent environmental, social, and climate-related issues shaping our changing planet. It is a partnership between the Royal Geographical Society (with IBG), Parker Harris, and Photoworks. The Earth Photo logo concept brings together two complementary ideas in a single, unified mark, highlighting how ‘Now more than ever, photography and film shape how we see the world around us’. The concept begins by exploring the land-to-water ratio of planet Earth. The ‘land’ element of this ratio represents an awareness of environmental issues, the climate crisis, and humanity’s relationship with the natural world. The ‘land’ symbol forms the logomark, or ‘landmark’, and becomes the foundation of the visual identity. Within the dual-layered concept, the mark also functions as a graphic representation of the highlight seen on a camera lens, acknowledging the vital role of photography and film in shaping perception.
