The logo for the FORMAT21 International Photography Festival centred around the theme CONTROL, was developed from the concept of redaction.
The typeface in use is a redrawing of the font originally designed for British road signs commissioned by the Ministry of Transport, and is subsequently used throughout Gov.uk.
The festival’s visual language is a further development into the concept of redaction around identity protection type patterns. This typographic treatment teamed with the redaction logo forms the basis of the festival’s brand identity.
