Järvenjää/
Lakeice
Book Design
Over the past decades, Finland has experienced an unprecedented rate of economic, technological and social change. In Järvenjää/Lakeice, Tessa explores interrelations between people and their immediate environment; reflecting on the diverse uses of natural landscapes within the city. Tessa presents a body of work focussing on a group of local ice swimmers, and accompanying essay, Hole in the Ice, by Riikka Ala-Harja describes the experience.
The small publication is held in a slip case that embodies the concept by being screen printed white with the shape of the country of Finland left clear representing the ‘hole in the ice’.
Orange as an accent colour throughout provides the perfect contrast to the environment the images convey.
